THE STORY
BEHIND THE FRAME.

THE BRIEF

An independent Swedish game studio was preparing to launch a first-person shooter set in an unusual Central European world. They needed a trailer at AAA production quality, something to bring to investors, gather an early player community, and present at industry events. The work was delivered with DeV Virtual Production, with the studio leading art direction and cinematics direction.

THE APPROACH

Art direction started with the world: reference, concept art, and a visual language for the game's characters and setting, defined before any shot was framed. Cinematics direction shaped the trailer from screenwriting and storyboard through animatic, then into a real-time Unreal Engine 5 pipeline where camera, motion capture, and lighting were directed shot by shot. Working in real time let the edit, camera moves, and lighting iterate quickly at high fidelity. The trailer was produced with DeV Virtual Production across a team of more than thirty CG specialists.

THE OUTCOME

The result was a character-led game trailer with dynamic editing and cinematic camera work, made to introduce the game's world and its core mechanics. Alongside the trailer, the project delivered concept art and character renders for the client to use across investor conversations, community building, and event presentations.
